Fredrick James, having served in the United States Navy for four years, went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from California State University, Dominguez Hills in 1983. He received his Juris Doctor degree in 1986 from the USC Law Center.

Mr. James began defending health care clients when he joined the Los Angeles litigation firm of O’Flaherty, Abrams & Carl, which specialized in the defense of health care providers. Prior to joining Schmid & Voiles in 2003, Mr. James was associated with Fonda & Fraser, a Los Angeles law firm with emphasis on defending health care professionals.

With 12 jury trials to verdicts, Mr. James has defended cases in both arbitration and superior court.
