Patrick W. Mayer was raised in Maryland. He received his Bachelors degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland.
Mr. Mayer attended Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, California where he received the AmJur award in Real Property. He attained his Juris Doctorate degree in 1984.
In 1986 Mr. Mayer began focusing his practice of law on the representation and defense of healthcare professionals. From 1993 until joining Schmid and Voiles in September 2002 Mr. Mayer was a partner in a Century City law firm where he defended claims on behalf of physicians, medical groups and institutional providers. His experience includes the successful resolution and trial to verdict in the Superior Court of numerous medical malpractice cases.
Mr. Mayer is a frequent lecturer to the medical profession on current topics of interest, including developing doctrines of patient's rights, understanding malpractice and the importance of communication with patients, informed consent and the importance of good charting.
