LOS ANGELES, Calif., May 1, 2006 - Active membership in the Cooperative of American Physicians, Inc.-Mutual Protection Trust (CAP-MPT), a California provider of medical professional liability coverage, has passed the 9,000 mark, and the company's net membership has increased significantly in the past four years.
Since the start of 2002, net membership in CAP has increased by 3,134 members. Net membership growth is based on the total number of new members minus the number of members terminating.
"Factors like an overall 5.25 percent reduction in the Mutual Protection Trust assessment along with member benefits such as long-term disability coverage demonstrate why CAP is proving to be a very attractive alternative for California's preferred physicians," said James L. Weidner, CAP chief executive officer. "As a unique risk-sharing organization, with outstanding underwriting, claims and risk management practices, we have been able to maintain stable ratios and low rates."
